Time: 11.30am to 3pm
Wigmore Hall
Wigmore Street
London, W1U
A day for children aged very young to eight who are blind or partially sighted and their families.
Join us for an action packed day of singing games and music making,
with the help of professional singers. The day has a zoological theme,
with many different animals – some real and others imagined – appearing
in a number of guises throughout the day.
What's involved:
- Getting going vocally, learning new songs and singing games
- Creating together new animal songs and pieces
-
Sharing what we have done during the day in an informal performance, in
the beautiful Wigmore Hall auditorium (extra audience welcome at 2.45).
The workshop is free of charge. You need to arrange your own
transport and bring your own lunch and other refreshments. You may go
out for lunch if you wish.
For an application form please contact James Risdon, RNIB Music Officer, telephone: 020 7391 2273 or email: james.risdon@rnib.org.uk

New campaign workshops for supporters in 2008
6 free workshops to help supporters make every disabled child matter locally
30 January 2008
Following a huge amount of positive feedback from the supporters workshops in Autumn 2007, EDCM and Contact a Family are hosting further supporters workshops for Spring 2008.
The
workshops are designed primarily for parent supporters but all EDCM
supporters are very welcome to attend.Work to engage children in EDCM's
campaigning is underway in partnership with the CDC Making Ourselves
Heard participation project.
Supporters who attended the Autumn conference commented:
"I didn't realise this morning when I set out that I was becoming a
campaigner. It was interesting to get ideas and hear from like-minded
people. Thank you."
"Very uplifting and empowering and brilliant! I
usually leave these places feeling depressed and angry because things
aren't changing but I left feeling like I was walking on air – so thank
you!"
The workshops will provide an update on the government's programme 'Aiming High for Disabled Children' to transform disabled children's services - and information on how to influence funding and other decisions locally.
Supporters attending will learn more about EDCM's local and national campaigning, including how to get their local authority and PCT signed up to the campaign's Charters - and delivering on the Charter commitments.
Perhaps most importantly, the workshops will be an opportunity to network with other campaigners across the same region, learn from each other's experiences and share them with the EDCM staff team.
Steve Broach, EDCM campaign manager says
'The EDCM staff
really value the chance to meet with supporters and other campaigners
in a setting where we can share information and learn from each other.
This is a really exciting time for the campaign, with
the new funding in 'Aiming High for Disabled Children' about to start.
We need to work together to make the most of this opportunity and push
things forward as far and as fast as we can. So, we hope as many
supporters as possible will be able to attend these workshops.'
